David Wiese, a Namibian cricketer and an important member of the Lahore Qalandars team for the past five years, praised the franchise for being one of the most popular teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8. In an interview with Geo News, Wiese expressed his admiration for Qalandars, saying that he feels at home with the team. He considers it an honor to be part of Lahore Qalandars, which is a rare opportunity for a player to be with a franchise for five years. Wiese added that he often feels like an adopted son of Lahore due to the love and support he receives from the Qalandars family.

Wiese previously played for the Karachi Kings for one season before joining the Qalandars, playing 42 PSL matches since 2018 and leading Qalandars to victory several times. As a right-handed batter, he has scored 521 runs with an average of 26.05 and taken 35 wickets in the league. He also spoke highly of Shaheen Shah Afridi’s captaincy, describing him as cool, calm, and wise in his decision-making. Wiese believes that Afridi has a bright future as a captain, especially after leading Qalandars to their maiden PSL title last year.

Wiese also praised the PSL for producing young talent, which he believes makes the league strong. He mentioned that many of the league’s local players have gone on to rule the cricket world, including Shaheen himself. Wiese is confident that his team is in a good position to qualify for the next round in PSL 8, having won five out of six games and currently sitting on top of the points table with 10 points.

In summary, David Wiese expressed his admiration for Lahore Qalandars and the PSL for producing young talent. He believes that Shaheen Shah Afridi is a fantastic captain and that Qalandars are in a good position to qualify for the playoffs.
