Azam Khan

The match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators was a one-sided contest, with the former emerging as the clear winner. Quetta Gladiators, who won the PSL trophy in 2019, have been struggling in the tournament since then. In their recent match against Islamabad United, they lost by 63 runs, taking their overall record to 23 losses in 35 games.

The highlight of the match was Azam Khan’s blistering performance with the bat. He scored an unbeaten 97 off just 42 balls, smashing 15 sixes in the process. His partnership with Asif Ali was destructive, adding 98 runs in just 7.3 overs. Despite a slow start by United, they ended up scoring a whopping 220 runs, which is the highest score in this year’s PSL.

In response, Quetta Gladiators struggled to get going and lost their top three batsmen – Martin Guptill, Jason Roy, and Will Smeed – within the first 3.1 overs. Mohammad Hafeez and Sarfaraz Ahmed tried to resurrect the innings with a 69-run partnership, but it was not enough to save the game. The Gladiators eventually lost by a huge margin, with their last six wickets falling within 4.1 overs.

The win was largely due to the performance of United’s spin bowlers, who took four of the top six wickets. Abrar Ahmed and Hasan Ali shared five wickets between them, while Shadab Khan removed Sarfaraz and Mohammad Nawaz in one over.

Overall, it was a dominant performance by Islamabad United, who proved why they are one of the top teams in the PSL. On the other hand, Quetta Gladiators continue to struggle and are on the brink of elimination from the tournament.
