ISLAMABAD: Mickey Arthur came in Pakistan on Tuesday and is expected to be named the Men in Green’s director.

Until April 20th, Arthur will remain with the Pakistan men’s side before departing for England, where he is the Head of Cricket for Derbyshire.

In 2016, Arthur assumed the position of Pakistan’s team’s head coach, a position he held for three years. Pakistan also won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy during his presidency.

However, following the team’s fifth-place finish in the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, the PCB made the decision not to renew the contracts of Arthur and his support staff.

To lead the team to the ACC Asia Cup, ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the PCB had earlier announced that it has been in talks with former national team head coach Arthur.

However, because of Arthur’s lengthy contract with Derbyshire, PCB have also talked about a proposal to share time acting as a consultant to the squad with Derbyshire.

Arthur has promised PCB that he will travel to India to represent the side at the 50-over ICC World Cup this year. He will continue coaching full-time for Derbyshire County Cricket Club in the interim, so he won’t be accessible during the English cricket season.

It should be remembered that in December of last year, English county team Derbyshire signed head of cricket Arthur to a contract that would extend through the end of the 2025 season. Former head coach of Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, he originally signed a two-year contract with the organisation in November 2021.

For the ongoing limited-overs series against New Zealand, which entailed five ODIs and as many T20Is, Grant Bradburn was selected head coach of the Pakistani squad.

The PCB had earlier announced in a press statement that “The PCB will confirm the Pakistan team management for post-New Zealand series following the completion of the relevant recruitment processes, which are currentl
